The Chief Executive Officer of Frontiers Children Development Organization (FCDO) participated in the 6th International Multidisciplinary Conference held at Turkana University College under the theme: “Harnessing Locally Led Innovations for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Peace in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands.”
The conference brought together scholars, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, NGOs, industry leaders, development partners, and participants from local and international institutions to exchange knowledge, innovative ideas, and research findings aimed at addressing challenges facing ASAL communities.
During the conference, the FCDO team implementing the Karamoja Strong Project (KSP), funded by Danish Refugee Council, exhibited and showcased key achievements from Loima Sub-County. The team highlighted how resilient design practices and water harvesting technologies have empowered communities to engage in sustainable agriculture, enabling households to grow crops for both consumption and sale, thereby improving food security, generating income, and promoting peaceful coexistence in borderland areas.
The exhibition also featured Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potatoes (OFSP) and their value-added products, demonstrating how local communities are processing agricultural produce to enhance nutrition, create market opportunities, and strengthen household livelihoods.
FCDO remains committed to promoting locally driven solutions that build climate resilience, improve livelihoods, and foster sustainable peace among vulnerable communities across Turkana County.
