kicks off a 5-day USAID Nawiri GYSD – Girl and Boy Groups Mentors in Lokichar Ward, Turkana South, at the Black Gold Hotel.The primary objectives of this training include;

📚 Mentorship Model – Roles and responsibilities of Mentors
🔢 Basic Functional Literacy and Numeracy
📊 Program Monitoring and Reporting
📜 Code of Conduct and Ethical Guidelines for Mentors.
The training is attended by 48 group Mentors hailing from various villages within Lokichar wards, including Lokichar: IDP, Nalemsekon, Kapese, Narengelup, Lomokamar, Lokwadat. Lochwaa: Lochwaa Center, Kaakalel, Loreng, Kaichupaluk, Nakujaamosing, Ngakitokoonok, Ngimanimania, Kaakalel, Locheremoit: Locheremoit Center, Narengemunyen, Kaapong, Kimabur: Kimabur Center, Nakimak, Edos, Sopel, Napusimoru: Napusimoru Center, Natorubei, Kengolereng, Kangipochon, Nakipi.
The Nawiri program aims to sustainably reduce persistent acute malnutrition in Turkana and Samburu counties, not only during regular seasons but also during shocks. This goal is being pursued through the Girl H and Transforming Masculinity component, which is central to FCDO’s efforts. This involves driving social behavioral change and implementing interventions related to Health and Nutrition, resilient livelihood, and making transition pathways for youth, ultimately contributing to the reduction of persistent acute malnutrition in our communities.
